The Four Noble Truths are the answers to life that the Buddha realized while practicing under the Bodhi Tree. As the core doctrine of Buddhism, they guide people to eliminate suffering.

The essence of the Four Noble Truths is to acknowledge the imperfection of life, identify the root cause of afflictions, believe that suffering can come to an end, and live a peaceful life through the right path. This is precisely the significance of our Buddha statue set—integrating this ancient wisdom into daily life and constantly reminding you that afflictions have an end and peace is within reach.

The Four Noble Truths in Buddhism

The First Truth: Dukkha (the Truth of Suffering) — Embrace the inherent imperfections of life

This does not merely refer to physical or emotional pain. Instead, it points to the universal sense of incompleteness that permeates human existence. Examples include the inevitable experiences of aging, illness, separation from loved ones, and the frustration of unfulfilled desires. Recognizing this truth is not about adopting a pessimistic outlook on life. Rather, it is the first step toward confronting afflictions by acknowledging the reality of life’s imperfections.

The Second Truth: Samudāya (the Truth of the Origin of Suffering) — Identify the root cause of afflictions

The root of suffering does not stem from external circumstances. Instead, it arises from the desires, cravings and attachments within our own minds. For instance, the constant longing for more material possessions, the need for others’ approval, and the obsession with the idea of perfection. These insatiable attachments trap us in a cycle of emotional turmoil and internal conflict, ultimately leading to suffering. Understanding this truth is the key to reducing such internal friction at its source.

The Third Truth: Nirodha (the Truth of the Cessation of Suffering) — Afflictions can come to an end

This is a truth that offers hope: suffering is not permanent, and we can completely free ourselves from it. When we let go of excessive attachments and extinguish the greed and confusion within our hearts, we can attain the state of Nirvana. This does not mean annihilation. Instead, it is a state of inner purity and peace, where one is no longer troubled by afflictions. The Buddha proved through his own spiritual practice that such liberation is fully achievable within one lifetime.

The Fourth Truth: Magga (the Truth of the Path to the Cessation of Suffering) — The path leading to peace

This is the specific method to achieve liberation, known as the Noble Eightfold Path. At its core, it is a way of life that regulates one’s speech and actions and purifies one’s thoughts. It encompasses three core dimensions: adhering to proper speech and principles in interactions with others, maintaining mindfulness and concentration within one’s heart, and viewing the world with clear understanding and kindness. There is no need to seek instant results. By practicing these principles gradually in daily life, we can step by step move away from afflictions and toward inner peace.

About Fortunate Mall

More than jewelry. Every piece at FortunateMall carries meaning, protection, and a little piece of home.

FortunateMall began with a red string. When I was little, my grandmother tied one around my wrist every Lunar New Year, made a quiet knot, and told me it would keep me safe. I never cut it off.

It was simply part of life at home, a small altar my grandmother tended each morning, a bag of stones my mother kept by the window, mirrors and plants placed where they felt right. I did not know any of it had a name until I was older.

When I studied abroad, I could not find these pieces. The shops were either factory made with no story, or priced in a way that did not feel honest. When I came home, I began sourcing from the small workshops and stone yards I knew, and sending pieces to friends overseas. That is really how FortunateMall began.

How we do things

  • Every stone is picked in person, and each order is checked once more before it goes out.
  • We work with small workshops and families we have met face to face, and pay them fairly.
  • Metal parts are made to be gentle on skin, with no lead or nickel, and there are no inflated markups or fake discounts.

With every order, 10% of our profits goes to children in remote mountain villages, helping them stay in school with books, stationery, warm meals, and support for the teachers who teach there. In time, we hope to build simple classrooms where they can learn without worry.

Every piece is chosen by hand and sent with care. A real person answers every email at [email protected], and you can read the full story on our About Us page.
